This morning is at leisure before you are transferred to Ellerslie Racecourse for the Telecom Derby Day this afternoon. The highlights of this race day are the richest Derby race in the Southern Hemisphere, the Telecom New Zealand Derby, as well as the national fashion in the field final – Mercedes Prix de Fashion. At the end of this exciting race day you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 3, Sunday 4 March
AUCKLAND
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Auckland, before transferring by ferry to Waiheke Island. Spend some time on this picturesque island famous for its world renowned wineries, arts and crafts scene, sandy beaches and stunning ocean views. After lunch and wine tasting, you will be transferred back to your hotel with your evening at leisure.

Day 4, Monday 5 March
AUCKLAND
Today you will travel south to Hamilton and enjoy a stud farm visit in the Cambridge area. A small town southeast of Hamilton, Cambridge is known for the breeding and training of thoroughbreds and stud farms such as the famous Cambridge Thoroughbred Lodge offer an intriguing insight into the fascinating process. Return to Auckland on completion of the tour and your evening is free to enjoy the city’s nightlife.

AUCKLAND
You have the day at leisure to relax and explore this charming city. Discover the reason for its ‘city of sails’ name by taking a stroll down to the beautiful harbour. You may wish to visit the golden beach of Mission Bay and indulge in a wide range of dining options on The Promenade while enjoying spectacular views of Rangitoto and the beautiful Auckland Harbour.

Day 6, Wednesday 7 March
AUCKLAND
Today you will transfer to Ellerslie Racetrack today to attend the Auckland Cup Day. Watch the day’s competition as it unfolds in the ultimate test of courage, stamina and determination in the Group 1 Auckland Cup Open Handicap run over 3200 meters. The day combines glamour and excitement of a contest steeped in tradition dating back to 1874 when the race was first run. You will be transferred back to the hotel on conclusion of the race day.

Day 7, Thursday 8 March
AUCKLAND - PAIHIA
Travel north via the Hibiscus Coast to the beautiful Bay of Islands. On arrival visit the historic Waitangi Grounds, site of the historic treaty between Maori and European pioneers. View a magnificent Maori meeting house and a large war canoe then transfer to the Paihia waterfront to join a dolphin watching cruise to Cape Brett. Enjoy a picnic lunch and travel through the famous "Hole in the Rock" and through Grand Cathedral Cave (weather permitting) before returning to your hotel at the end of the day.

PAIHIA
Depart this morning and travel to the top of the North Island - Cape Reinga. Walk out to the lighthouse and see where the Pacific Ocean collides with the Tasman Sea. This beautiful region is steeped in Maori legend and mythology. Enjoy lunch and other highlights of the journey such as a visit to the Kauri Forests, sand tobogganing down the massive sand dunes at Te Paki Stream and travelling down Ninety Mile Beach. Return to your hotel early this evening and spend the evening at your leisure.
