The Oakbank Easter Carnival is known to Australians as ‘the Biggest Picnic Race Meeting on Earth’, and we would like to invite you to join us for a weekend of racing in Adelaide that you will never forget. Located in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, you will discover the atmosphere of a Country Racing Carnival that rivals the Melbourne Cup in size and colour. With a crowd of over 100,000 these are two fantastic days of racing and fun. Easter Saturday alone attracts more than 45,000 spectactors and sets the scene for a fantastic carnival. It’s not just the fun and excitement of being at Oakbank over Easter but the racing includes such time-honoured events like the Von Doussa Steeplechase, the Oakbank Stakes and the highlight event, the Great Eastern Steeplechase over a gruelling 4950 metres. Day 1, Friday 6 April BRISBANE / SYDNEY - ADELAIDE Make your own way to Brisbane’s Domestic Airport today for your flight to Adelaide. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your centrally located hotel. In the evening, transfer to the town of Hahndorf located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills and admire the rich history and German traditions that are evident from its architecture to the distinctive foods and produce. Accommodation: Adelaide Day 2, Saturday 7 April ADELAIDE This morning you will be transferred to the historic Oakbank Racing Club for the beginning of the biggest picnic race meeting on Earth! You will enjoy the day’s racing with seating in the exclusive Punters Retreat Marquee. Today’s events include the running of the Von Doussa Steeplechase, the Listed Oakbank Stakes and more. At the conclusion of the race day you will be transferred back to the hotel. Accommodation: Adelaide Day 3, Sunday 8 April ADELAIDE Today you will embark on a full day tour to Barossa Valley, with its Bavarian villages, baroque Italienate Chateaux and stunning vineyard scenery. Highlights for the tour includes the spectacular Torrens Gorge, a visit to Wolf Blass for wine tasting, panoramic views over the valley from Meglers Hill Lookout, lunch at Kaesler Winery, and more. Accommodation: Adelaide		Day 4, Monday 9 April ADELAIDE Transfer to Oakbank this morning for another spectacular day of racing amongst the best party race day atmosphere around. Today sees the running of the famous Great Eastern Steeplechase. This gruelling jump race takes place over 4950 metres, so hold your breath as runners contend with the famous ‘Fallen Log’. The day’s racing also includes the Yalumba Classic Hurdle and the popular Onkaparinga Cup. After this terrific day of fun and racing, you will be transferred back to your hotel. Accommodation: Adelaide Day 5, Tuesday 10 April ADELAIDE - BRISBANE / SYDNEY Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
