Cadbury Derby Day is an enjoyable family day filled with thoroughbred racing action and part of the 2012 AAMI Racing Carnival. Enjoy the day from your reserved seat in the Terrace Restaurant, complete with lunch and great views of the track.
While in Tasmania join us in exploring Hobart, the historic Port Arthur, cruise the nearby harbour and waterways on a luxury catamaran before travelling on to Launceston and the Meander Valley where we will visit some of its quaint villages and Aceland Stud Farm.

Day 1, Friday 3 February
BRISBANE / SYDNEY – HOBART
This morning, make your way to your respective airports for your flight to Hobart where upon arrival you will join a sightseeing tour of the city before transferring to your centrally located hotel. Join the group for welcome drinks this evening.

Day 2, Saturday 4 February
HOBART
This morning is at your leisure. Depart on a mid morning transfer with the group to the Hobart Race Track for the 2012 Cadbury Derby. Enjoy the action from your reserved seat in the Terrace restaurant. At the conclusion of the meet you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 3, Sunday 5 February
HOBART
Embark on a luxury catamaran today as you take a rejuvenating, relaxing and scenic day discovering the real Tasmania aboard the Peppermint Bay cruise. Leaving from Sullivan’s Cove the cruise takes in the harbour, the River Derwent, and the amazing waters of the d'Entrecasteaux Channel including highlights such as a Salmon Farm and freshly prepared lunch. Return to your hotel at the end of the day and spend this evening at your leisure.

Day 4, Monday 6 February
HOBART
Today is at leisure for you to explore this charming city. Visit Salamanca for a bite of lunch or join a tour to the famous Cadbury factory. Alternatively make your way to Mount Wellington for the best view of Tasmania’s capital.

Day 5, Tuesday 7 February
HOBART
This morning depart by coach to discover Port Arthur on a guided tour to give you a sense of what life was like in 19th century Port Arthur before taking a half an hour cruise around the Harbour. Port Arthur is abundant in history and is definitely a must see for all Australians. Return to Hobart in the afternoon along the scenic Tasman Peninsula.

Day 6, Wednesday 8 February
HOBART – LAUNCESTON
Depart after breakfast today and travel along the Heritage Highway to Launceston, stopping off at quaint villages along the way. Notice Silhouette metal sculptures on your journey; these sculptures represent the bushrangers, convicts & colonial settlers who built the highway in the early 1800’s. You will drive through townships such as Richmond, Ross, Campbell town, Longford & Oatlands which are lined with historic buildings & unique shops, specialising in antiques. Upon arrival at your hotel, your evening is at leisure.

Day 7, Thursday 9 February
LAUNCESTON
Tasmania is renowned worldwide for its clean, green and pristine environment, and has many stud farms in the high yield farm belt area. After a stud farm visit continue on a sightseeing tour of the area including Deloraine, a charming town lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings, many of which have been carefully restored.

Day 8, Friday 10 February
LAUNCESTON
Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of the Tamar Valley. This is a beautiful area north of Launceston and it is one of Tasmania’s principle wine producing areas. It is very picturesque with orchards, forests and pastures. Enjoy lunch in this area before returning to the hotel later this afternoon.

HOBART – BRISBANE / SYDNEY
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home. Your arrival home concludes your tour with Ambassador Travel.

Enjoy a day at leisure in Christchurch. You may wish to hop on the historic tram and take in the many attractions of the inner city along this famous route from Cathedral Square to the Botanic Gardens. Along with the great wealth of culture and scenic attractions, Christchurch also offers a wide range of dining and entertainment options you may indulge in today.

CHRISTCHURCH – MT. COOK – OMARAMA
Today a sightseeing tour awaits that will highlight the main attractions of Christchurch before you travel across the Canterbury Plains into the MacKenzie Country. View the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Collie Dog statue at Lake Tekapo. Continue on to Mt. Cook National
Park and admire the majestic beauty of Mt. Cook before arriving in Omarama.

Day 4, Sunday 13 March
OMARAMA – DUNEDIN
Today you will continue the coach drive past large hydro lakes down the Waikati Valley to Oamaru and Dunedin - the ‘Scottish City’. An early arrival allows ample time for you to explore the city on your own, and you may take a harbour cruise or spot the abundant wildlife in the area including the albatross, penguins, seals and more. Enjoy dinner tonight preceded by a traditional Haggis ceremony complete with Scottish pipers and the Address to the Haggis.

DUNEDIN – TE ANAU
Visit the historic Olveston House today for a glimpse into the lifestyle of a privileged family in 1900’s Dunedin. Continue through rich farmlands to the towns of Gore and Lumsden and stop at Lake Manapouri before arriving at Lake Te Anau. Maori for ‘Lake of Swirling Water’, the lake is a scenic site that provides sanctuary for abundant wildlife.

TE ANAU – MILFORD SOUND – QUEENSTOWN
A tour to Milford Sound awaits you today, a region of unrivalled beauty dominated by the magnificent Mitre Peak. Enjoy a launch cruise that takes you out to open sea and visit the stunning Bowen and Stirling Falls before returning to Te Anau. QUEENSTOWN – FOX GLACIER

Continue on to the glacier region into the Mt. Aspiring and Westland National Parks before arriving at the magnificent Fox Glacier.

FOX GLACIER – CHRISTCHURCH
Travel to Franz Josef Glacier today and pass through dense bushlands and landlocked lakes to visit a Greenstone (jade) factory. This is followed by the spectacular TranzAlpine Train Ride where you will journey through rainforests to Otira, the snowcapped peaks of the Southern Alps, the rugged gorges of the Waimakariri river, and across the Canterbury Plains back to Christchurch.
