Day 1, Tuesday 29 September
MELBOURNE – NEWCASTLE
Make your way to your domestic airport for your flight to Newcastle today. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your overnight accommodation. En route to the hotel enjoy a brief orientation tour that introduces you to the fascinating history of this port city with an abundance of beautiful beaches and natural scenery.

Day 2, Wednesday 30 September
NEWCASTLE – HUNTER VALLEY
This morning, depart Newcastle and travel to Denman and visit the Pukara Olive Grove, a 200 acre estate where a variety of olives are planted, and manufactured into premium extra virgin olive oil. Continue on to Widden Stud, home of Stratum (2005 Golden Slipper winner). Enjoy a tour of the facilities and a grand view of the Widden Valley before arriving at your accommodation in Pokolbin.

Day 3, Thursday 1 October
HUNTER VALLEY
Travel to Jerrys Plains this morning for a tour of Coolmore Stud, one of the largest studs in the world owned by the Magnier Family. It is home to many champion horses, including Choisir and Encosta de Lago. Follow this up with a trip to Darley Stud and after lunch, continue on to Arrowfield Stud in Scone for the opportunity to see Redoute’s Choice and Flying Spur in their element. The final stud for the day is Vinery Stud, the oldest thoroughbred stud in Australia.

Day 4, Friday 2 October
HUNTER VALLEY
– SYDNEY
Depart midmorning from Hunter Valley on a leisurely drive through some beautiful wine country and enjoy the sights along the way, travelling through Sydney’s scenic northern suburbs before crossing the Harbour Bridge to arrive in Sydney. Enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure or join an optional harbour cruise.

Day 5, Saturday 3 October
SYDNEY
This morning you will be transferred to the Royal Randwick Racecourse for the AJC Spring Racing Carnival, featuring a series of Group Races including the 1600 metre Epsom Handicap and the 2400 metre Metropolitan, both of which are Group 1 races*. With a combined prize pool of over $2 million approximately, this promises to be a most exciting race day. At the end of race day, you will be returned to your hotel.

SYDNEY – MELBOURNE
A mid-morning departure to the domestic airport and board your flight home today. This concludes your 2009 Studs of Hunter Valley & Sydney Spring Racing Tour. |
