Australia - Santiago
Make your way to your respective airports for your flight bound for Santiago, the oldest city in Chile that has grown into a metropolis of 5 million, where the ancient happily co-exists with the modern. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel for check-in. Accommodation: Santiago
Day 2, Saturday 4 September
Santiago (Racing)
This morning you will visit the Haras de Pirque, the oldest and most prestigious stud farm in the country, with over 200 hectares of prime land dedicated to the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. The Stud is the origin of Hussonet, an exceptional champion stallion sold to Arrowfield Stud in 2002. Later, stop at a local winery for lunch and wine tasting before transferring to the beautiful Hipodromo de Santiago for an afternoon at the races – South American style!

Day 3, Sunday 5 September
Santiago
A half day sightseeing tour of the city today will introduce you to some of Santiago’s highlights. Some of sites you will visit may include the La Moneda Palace, the official seat of the Chilean Government, Plaza de Armas, the Central Market, as well as enjoy fantastic views of the city from Santa Lucia Hill. Your afternoon is at leisure to do some additional sightseeing at your own pace.

Day 4, Monday 6 September
Santiago – Mendoza
Depart Santiago this morning and travel by coach over the magnificent Andes with some magnificent sights along the way, before arriving in the Argentinean city of Mendoza. The city is situated in a region of foothills and high plains on the eastern side of the Andes and renowned for its quality wineries. You will check into your centrally located hotel on arrival.

Day 5, Tuesday 7 September

This morning you will travel through the world famous winegrowing oasis of Mendoza to visit prestigious wineries and participate in wine tasting. Enjoy lunch at a local winery where you have the opportunity to sample some unforgettable local delicacies. As the sun sets behind the Andes Mountains, you will be transferred back to your accommodation.

Day 6, Wednesday 8 September
Mendoza
Immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of Mendoza this morning with an orientation tour that introduces you to some of the most interesting sites dotted around the city. Your stops may include Independence Square as well as the ruins of the Church of San Francisco, the only vestige of colonial architecture in the city. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Mendoza – Buenos Aires
Early this morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to the Argentinean capital of Buenos Aires, often hailed as the Paris of the South. This afternoon you will enjoy a tour of this vibrant city, with sights such as the colourful La Boca district, San Telmo, 9 de Julio Avenue, Colon Theatre, Government House, Recoleta Cemetery, as well as the beautiful Palermo Parks.

Buenos Aires (Racing)
You may enjoy a morning at leisure before being transferred to San Isidro racetrack for an afternoon of thoroughbred racing. Owned by the Argentinean Jockey Club, the track was opened in 1935 and is without doubt one of the largest and most important tracks in the Americas. Set on 50 hectares of beautiful parklands and having both dirt and grass tracks, it will be an afternoon to be remembered! On conclusion of the race meeting, you will be returned to your hotel.

Today is free for you to pursue your own interests in the city. With the hotel being within walking distance to the shopping district, and many sites of note hidden amidst the vibrant and bustling city streets, you will want to take the time to explore at your own pace. Tonight, you are invited to attend the famous Tango Folkmore Dance Dinner Show – an evening not to be missed for visitors of the city.

Day 10, Sunday 12 September
Buenos Aires
You may spend another day in Buenos Aires at leisure, or alternatively, join an optional day tour and travel north to visit the charming town of Tigre, which sits on an island carved out by several river streams. You will have the opportunity to see the elegant residences of the northern neighbourhoods and visit San Isidro for an insight into its history and people. The tour also includes lunch on one of the islands, and time for you to browse through the wares at the famous San Telmo Flea Market.

Today, depart by coach and travel to the Argentinean countryside to enjoy a “Gaucho Fiesta” and experience life on the Pampas. Indulge in a traditional lavish barbecue lunch with all the trimmings, local desert specialties, delicious wines, and a display of Gaucho horsemanship. You will then be returned to your hotel with the remainder of your evening at leisure.

Buenos Aires – Iguazu Falls
Say goodbye to Buenos Aires and join your flight bound for Iguazu, home to the eighth wonder of the world – the mighty Iguazu Falls. Here a number of rivers meet and form some 275 spectacular cascading falls, creating the natural boundaries of three South American countries. After checking into your ideally located hotel in Iguazu, you will have ample opportunity to explore the magnificent Falls at your leisure.

Embark on a sightseeing tour of the stunning Iguazu Falls today and enjoy breathtaking views of the region from various lookout points. This morning you will be transferred to the airport on the Brazilian side of the Falls for your flight to Rio de Janeiro where on arrival you will check-in at your centrally located hotel. Later this the afternoon you will enjoy a tour to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain, one of Rio de Janeiro’s most famous icons that offers a panoramic view over one of the world’s most beautiful cities, including the splendid Copacabana Beach and the Santa Cruz Fortress!

There is no city quite like Rio and your tour this morning may include a drive through the lovely tropical Tijuca Forest to the summit of Corcovado Mountain. Here you will see the statue of ‘Christ the Redeemer’ – its outstretched arms embracing a spectacular view of Rio’s mountains, harbour and beaches below. Tonight enjoy a dinner and a samba show and experience the intricate steps of the native dancers and their fascinating costumes.

RIO DE JANEIRO – MANAUS – CRUISE
Depart Rio today and travel to Manaus, the main ntranceway to the Amazon Forest. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Manaus Port and join your 5 Day Amazon River Cruise with Iberostar Grand Amazon. Once onboard, sit back, relax and enjoy your Cruise where you will encounter some of the world’s most stunning natural sceneries.

Day 2, Monday 20 September
CRUISE
After breakfast, small boats called tenders will take you through the Igarapés for a trek through the jungle and a visit to Novo Airão. This is the best place on the Amazon River to see the river dolphins that live in only two of South America’s major river systems. With the Amazon Jungle around you, and the waters of the giant river keeping you cool, this is guaranteed to be a truly unforgettable experience for any traveler. After lunch, the afternoon can be spent on a photo safari or fishing for piranha in Lake Aracari. Alligator spotting at night follows dinner.

Day 3, Tuesday 21 September
CRUISE
Bird-watching as the sun rises over Rio Puduari is especially dramatic, with flocks of macaws, parrots, parakeets and toucans, and many more all competing to make the most noise. After breakfast, embark on the tenders to trek through the jungle on the side of Rio Puduari. You will also have the chance to visit the Alligator Island for a photo safari or an excursion through the magnificent Igarapé Aturiá during the afternoon.

Day 4, Wednesday 22 September
CRUISE
Breakfast is followed by trekking and a photo safari at Rio Cuieiras. The green jungle will be filled with beautiful birds and butterflies. Visit a local community at Cambebas, where you can learn how the native people have adapted to living on the edge of the jungle. During lunch, the ship travels to Praia Grande where you can cruise the flooded forest in tender boats before having some free time to relax on the river beach. A folkloric show provides the after-dinner entertainment, with the stories of the local Indian legends.

Breakfast can be taken while observing the bizarre natural phenomenon that is the Meeting of the Waters where two huge rivers – the Rio Negro and the Rio Solimões – meet but refuse to mix for around 8km. Disembark your cruise ship this morning and you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Manaus. In the afternoon enjoy a sight seeing tour of Manaus. You will have the chance to visit many places of interest including the Opera House, designated as Brazilian historical heritage.

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival to Cuzco you will be transferred to your accommodation. You may see such sights as the historic Main Square, Casa del Inca Garcilaso de la Vega and Palacio Arzobispal which houses the Museum of Religious Art.

Today you will experience some old Incan ruins with a fully guided Pisaq ruins tour. This tour will take in the ruins of this typical Incan town. The town of Pisaq is a very interesting place where each Sunday the inhabitants meet at their colorful, weekly market. The merchants, peasants, and officials all meet at the market to participate in commercial activities or to attend mass.

CUZCO – MACHU PICCHU – CUZCO
Today you will enjoy a fully guided day tour to Machu Pichu by way of the Vistadome Train. This train is the quickest way to get to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) station. The three-and-a-half hour journey takes you through a changing landscape of lush, green fields and colourful Andean villages, to a spectacle of rushing rivers, steep green mountains and rocky outcrops hung with orchids and bromeliads. Machu Picchu hides only a short bus journey away.

CUZCO – PUNO
Today you will travel by way of coach across the Altiplano to Puno. Puno, according to legend, was also the cradle of Inca civilization, as Manco Kapac, the first Inca, rose from the waters of Lake Titicaca, under the orders of the Sun God, to establish the Inca Empire. This region of Peru is famous for its varied and colorful folk traditions, as it has some of the most dazzling and richest folk ceremonies to be witnessed.

PUNO - LA PAZ
Today you will travel by coach and Catamaran to La Paz crossing the famed Lake Titicaca. We will enjoy a guided tour to Sun Island; this island has been identified as the birthplace of several revered entities, including the sun itself. A source of magnetic energy, the vertex of the earth and the cradle of the Inca Empire, the Inca couple Manco Kapac and Mama Ocllo appeared here and founded the Sun Empire. You may visit sights such as The Inca Garden and The Inca Stairs. We will continue on to La Paz.

This morning you will enjoy a fully guided tour of the city including the mysterious Valley of the Moon. You may also visit the Presidential Palace: also known as the Palacio Quemado (Burnt Palace) due to repeating fire episodes the building endured in the past and the Museuo Nacionale de Arte a former palace built in 1775, houses works by Melchor Perez de Holguín and Marina Nuñez del Prado, among others.
